Boundaries

Set, reinforce, and follow up.

Boundaries are to be discussed and understood by both. Remove doubt with follow up questions. Especially when exploring, request feedback.

Explore

We learn at our edges, at our extremes we grow.

Boundaries may be amended

A boundary is relative and situational. If extra variables present, ensure the bounds are still at play. What was once OK may also be rescinded.

Set your own Boundaries

Keep yourself engaged, accountable, and safe by setting your own boundaries.

The Use of Pet Names

Pet names or nicknames create boundaries.

Avoid Assumptions

Ensure specifics are clarified and nothing left assumed when setting boundaries.

Asking vs Telling vs Commanding

Let the moment dictate the tone and phrasing of your requests.

Triggers

Identify the words, themes, or actions which can trigger a negative response.

Reinforce Boundaries

Setting boundaries is simply the beginning, take the time to reinforce them.

Thinking vs Doing

Subs will often think they can maintain a boundary, however, once engaged they difficulty adhering to them.

Pain Scale Calibration

Set a pain scale from 1 to 10. Whether it’a a slap to the ass or a pull of the hair, associate a number relative to intensity.
